What is the AI training obligation under Article 4?

The AI literacy obligation follows from Article 4 of the EU AI Act. Organisations must take measures to support the AI literacy of everyone who operates or uses AI systems on their behalf.

Since when has the obligation applied?

The Article 4 AI literacy obligation has applied since 2 February 2025. Since then, providers and deployers must take context-appropriate measures. The regulation does not prescribe a specific certificate.

Does the obligation also apply to small companies?

Yes. The obligation attaches to the role as provider or deployer, not to company size. The scope and depth of the measures may be adapted to the context.

Is a hackathon enough as proof for an audit?

The format contributes to AI literacy as a role and context appropriate measure and produces documentation from real project artefacts. Your organisation assesses the adequacy of its overall programme itself.

Do our employees need to be able to code?

No. The tool workshop brings everyone to the same baseline. Teams build with Cursor, Lovable, n8n, Claude Code, Gamma and custom GPTs, all usable without a developer background.

What happens with our company data?

All access and data are set up in a privacy compliant way beforehand. Sensitive data stays under your control, and we align the setup with your IT and compliance team.

How much preparation do we need?

Spark, Ignite, Blaze: which hackathon format fits you?

The choice of format depends on three factors: how much time you can free up, how far your teams already are, and whether you want to set a signal or change processes.

Spark, one day

The entry point. Fundamentals, a tool workshop and a first prototype per team. Ideal for departments that need quick orientation and an early win.

Ignite, two days

The standard format. Day 1 foundations and ideation, day 2 sprint and pitches. At the end there are three to five deployable prototypes and an impact report.

Blaze, one week

For organisations that want to activate several areas at once and move results straight into operation. Includes IT handoff and internal AI champions.
