Why online courses do not build AI literacy
Online courses are cheap, scalable, and mostly ineffective for AI. The reason lies less in the format than in the distance between the learning content and real work.
The transfer problem
Knowing about prompts is not the same as a working workflow in your own tool stack. Without application to your own task, what was learned fades within a few weeks.
What works instead
Learning on real tasks, with real data, under guidance. The result is not a quiz, but something that runs.
- Your own task as the learning subject
- Coaching instead of lectures
- A result that keeps being used in daily work
- Multipliers who keep the knowledge in-house
And the obligation?
A hackathon satisfies Article 4 just as well, with the difference that competence and results are documented at the end instead of just attendance.
